Virginia "Ginny" Lee Brierley
Age 102
Of Mahtomedi, formerly of White Bear Lake
Passed away at home on April 29, surrounded by her family. She was our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
As Ginny's children, we found "these are a few of her favorite things": family, traveling, enjoying the lake, gardening, horse jumping, and volunteering.
She graduated from Northwestern University and Katharine Gibbs College. She worked as a secretary for Leo Burnett advertising agency in Chicago. She was an active volunteer with Franklin Elementary, WBL Historical Society, First Presbyterian Church of WBL, and librarian of the St. Andrews Library. She was a member of the WBL Women's Club and the New Century Club.
Ginny married W. Gordon Brierley on December 30, 1941. She was born in Timmins, Ontario. She and Gordon met in Chicago, lived in Washington, D.C., Milwaukee, Indiana, and lived in WBL area for 61 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, brothers Hugh (Eleanor) and David (Nik). She was survived by her children: David (Ms Lynn Anderson), Nancy (Bill Befort), and Susie (Mr Lynn Willcox), grandchildren: Corinna and Belinda Befort, and Aaron and Katie Willcox and six great grandchildren.
Services were May 3. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Bear Lake Historical Society, the White Bear Center for the Arts, Solid Ground (women's and family support organization) or the World Wildlife Fund.
Ginny said, "These days, old age starts at 90". And her "old age" lasted 28 years!
