Sharon Rose
Irmiter-Millam
Jun 26, 1956 — May 22, 2023
Sharon Rose Irmiter-Millam (also known as Mom & Oma) died peacefully on Monday May 22nd, 2023 in her home surrounded by her close family in Richfield, MN. She suffered from Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy Type II. She was born on June 26, 1956 in Denver Colorado. Sharon was the 5th of seven children born to Mildred Eleanor Mary Worm and Ralph Aloysius Irmiter. She had fond memories of living with her three brothers and three sisters in New York City and north Minneapolis where she graduated from Vocational High School and St. Cloud State University becoming a special education teacher working for a number of public and private educational organizations. She lived primarily in Minnesota but was energized by living in big cities like New York and Washington DC. Sharon was most concerned about the care and well-being of children. She enjoyed biking, golf, playing scrabble and reading novels when relaxing. The only sport she followed was post-season baseball.
Sharon was survived by her husband Mark Millam of nearly 40 years and children Tressa (38), Sarah (36) and Sean (31) and grandchildren Layne (19) and Blake (17). She was preceded in death by her mother and father and survived by her siblings Dale Irmiter, Terri Irmiter, Boni Weber, Ralph Irmiter Jr., Mari Irmiter and Paul Irmiter. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews including Jamie Olson and her two children Astro and Zero who affectionately called her Oma. As her disease caused pain and struggle, she was closely supported by her friends Kathy and Scott Palmer, Teresa Malone, Peggy Flynn and many others that she met every year at girls' weekends in Northern MN. She kindly shared space with her daughter's pet dogs Brooks and Chomsky.
A celebration of life event is planned for what would have been her 67th birthday on June 26, 2023 at Blackhawk Pavilion - 1629 Murphy Pkwy Eagan MN 55122. Please use the following link https://forms.gle/39i1CVzfscRL4i6Z6 to register and help us with overall headcount.

A phrase that was prominent in her living spaces "Remember, Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain". Her philosophy summed in three words – "Live", "Love", "Dance".
