Scott Fredrick
Portz
d. Jun 30, 2026
Scott Portz was born January 29, 1958, baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota and left us to rest in the arms of the Lord on June 30, 2026.
Survived by his Mother, June I. Portz; sisters Cindy Madery and Sandy (Joseph) Syfko, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father, Fred John Portz, and sister Debra Irene Lange.
Graduating in June 1976 from Henry Sibley High School in Mendota Heights, Minnesota he went on to receive a Diploma from 916 Area Vocational Tech in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Growing up Scott loved playing hockey and continued to skate with his brother-in-law Joe, both fans of Minnesota Wild.
Scott enjoyed spending time with family and friends and the most important person in his life, his mom, June. He took great pride in keeping her yard, gardens and birds fed and blooming all summer long.
He was an avid chef who hosted many dinners for family and friends and even an occasional Thanksgiving Dinner for neighbors. During summer you would find him behind the grill cooking up his favorite brats, burgers or drummies. When not grilling, you would find Scott out on his favorite fishing lake, White Bear Lake.
While a fan of many music genres, Scott was jamming and singing out loud (a rarity) to Classic Country Music with his sister Sandy on a recent road trip (his favorites: Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and John Prine). He most recently played his CD The Guess Who Greatest Hits in his car.
Scott shared many duck and deer hunting stories with all of us recounting his adventures hunting on Uncle Bill’s farm which included his 9-point Buck. In May 2025, Scott received recognition from RMEF for his commitment to wildlife and his lifelong passion to America’s great hunting heritage.
Memorials to donor's choice or American Diabetes Association in honor of Scott Portz.
