Obituary

Priscilla Louise Doran Moody Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 22, 2014 in Maple Grove, Minnesota at age 87. Priscilla was born on October 1, 1926 in St. Paul to Lester and Esther Doran. She graduated from St. Paul Central High School and received a bachelor degree in Medical Technology from Macalester College. While attending college, Priscilla participated in synchronized swimming and made annual canoe treks in what is now the Boundary Waters. She worked at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul and married John (Jack) Moody at St. Clements Episcopal Church in St. Paul before moving to White Bear Lake in 1955 to raise their two sons, Scott and John. Priscilla was active in the community, serving for many years as an election judge and Cub Scout den leader. She was active in the PTA, St. John in the Wilderness Alter Guild, and volunteered many hours to White Bear Lake Babe Ruth baseball. She loved to camp, swim, travel, and was a supporter of Macalester College, the American Cancer Society, American Parkinson Association and other worthy causes. She was an ardent supporter of MADD and was honored by the National Association for her efforts in starting the country's first Victims' Support Group. Priscilla will be remembered most, however, as a loving mom, wife, and grandmother. She will live forever in our hearts, memories, and prayers. Priscilla spent her last days surrounded by family and loved ones, her beloved caregivers at the Solbakken residential home in Maple Grove, and her favorite music. Her husband Jack, son Scott, and sister Marjorie precede her in death. She is survived by her son John and his wife Cheryl, grandchildren Sara (Mike), Eric (Tracey), Kyle, and Bret, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences can be made in the form of a memorial to the church she loved, St. John in the Wilderness in White Bear Lake, where services will be held for her on Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 am. There will be a visitation at 9:00 am preceding the service and a reception luncheon at 11:00 am after the service. Internment will follow at Benton County Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal church is located at 2175 First St, White Bear Lake, and can be contacted at (651) 429.5351.
