Phyllis also known as "Tilly" was born in Alexandria, Minnesota in 1925. Her mother died unexpectedly when Phyllis was very young. After that; she was raised by her Aunt Florence and Uncle Albert. Teddy passed away unexpectedly in 1970. They lived in Mendota Heights until retirement in 1983. They moved to their lake home that Gene built by hand called "The house that Gene Built" on Big Sandy Lake tucked away in the Norway Pines. They enjoyed their summer months up at the cabin and would travel south to Texas for the winter months for 24 years. Throughout the years, they enjoyed 5 dogs; they were all named "Susie". She loved to bake her homemade bread, pies and cookies and she loved feeding a large crowd. Her past time was watching and feeding the wildlife. She also loved collecting rocks and artifacts and planting & maintaining her beautiful flowers along with "happy hour" with friends or family. The Angels were a wonderful help.  They would drive them to the grocery store, doctors visits and they would run errands etc. for them. At times they even cleaned their house. This all was done at no cost.  It really bothered my grandma because they never accepted money from her.
