Pauline Jane Pagel
Went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pauline Jane Rothi was born August 13, 1927, the oldest child of Gustave and Sarah Rothi. She had 5 older half siblings and 3 younger siblings. They lived on the west side in a house without indoor plumbing. Her father passed when she was 12. Pauline was the last of this family.
While attending Humboldt High School, Pauline worked at the local grocery store. She graduated in 1945 and the next day started work at the Farmers Union (Cenex / CHS).
On February 26, 1949 Pauline and Ed Pagel got married. Right after their wedding they moved to Chicago where Ed had a short-term job. Then they returned to St. Paul and lived with Ed's parents on Baker Street for 10 years.
In 1959, Ed and Pauline built their dream home on Bellows Street in West St Paul. A year later, Pauline "retired" to care for their house where lived there for 35 years. Pauline loved the neighborhood and made lifelong friends.
Their world changed in 1963 when their prayers were answered and Paul Edward was born. Everyone knows how special he is 😊
In 1969 Pauline got golf clubs and learned to golf. Over the years she enjoyed golfing with Ed and Paul and with several leagues at Southview Country Club.
Pauline was always ready for a card game with neighbors, friends and relatives. Socializing was a key part of her life: shopping, dining, traveling, and groups including Alter Guild, Red Hat Society, Bridge Club, and golf and bowling leagues. She loved traveling, both with friends and to visit friends. Favorite destinations included Door County, Florida, Arizona, and cruises.
In 1986 Paul married Marjorie and moved across town. In 1993 Granddaughter Alyssa was born, followed by grandson Mitchell in 1995. Pauline changed her name to Nana. She loved spending time with her grandchildren: playing card games, showing them off to everyone, and traveling with them to Florida, Arizona, and a Caribbean cruise.
In 1994, Pauline and Ed sold the house and moved into their cottage home on Thompson Avenue where they lived for 20 years. In 2014 they moved into Southview Senior Living.
Pauline was primary caregiver for Ed as he battled Parkinson's disease until his death in 2015. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage. They were both lifelong members of Emmanuel / Crown of Life.
Pauline attended her grandchildren's weddings. In 2016 Alyssa married Matthew Crane and in 2017 Mitchell married Rebekah.
In 2019 Pauline moved to the Willows of Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, close to Paul and Marj, to get additional care for her Alzheimer's disease and knee pain. She joined Ed on November 26, 2021.
Thank you for coming to celebrate the life of Pauline Pagel
