Williams
Sep 17, 1937 — Dec 1, 2024
St. Paul
Marvin (Marv) Williams passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones December 1, 2024, at Woodwinds Hospital.
Born in 1937 in Bottineau North Dakota to Norman and Mable Williams. Marvin always spoke fondly of his life growing up on the family farm in Bertha township with his 7 siblings and the wisdom and life lessons passed down by his loving parents.
Later in life after serving in the United States Airforce, he was honored to be as an important member of a team of electrical engineers who were integral in the successful launch and recovery of the Apollo 11 moon launch, on July 24th, 1969. He often proudly retold the story and remained an advocate for space exploration throughout his life.
Marvin was an adventurer traveling to 5 continents for business, pleasure and charity work and an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting with his family. He continued to appreciate nature throughout his life. He often retold stories about canoe trips to Boundary Waters with his Boy Scout troop, trips around Lake Superior and driving the open road in his RV.
Dedicated to his community, Marvin spent many years with the Boy Scouts of America, as a volunteer at Salem Lutheran Church in West St. Paul and contributing his time for Habitat for Humanity projects and always supporting friends and family with home improvements and repairs.
