Obituary

Age 98
Died January 5, 2018

Maggie (nee Schlief) was born in St. Paul to Helen Burkhalter Schlief and Charles Albert Schlief on Novmeber 1, 1919.  She was preceded in death by husband Carl Wagner, brothers Raymond and Albert Schlief and sister Irene Hillyer.  She will be deeply missed by sisters Dorothy Hansen, Shirley Tibbetts and Helen (Dave) Ellenbecker, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Maggie was a lifelong resident of St. Paul.  She worked at the Armory during the Second World War and then worked for Minnesota Plastics for many years.
She loved her family, the outdoors and being in nature.  She was always curious and loved learning.  Her reading ranged from history, to the National Geographic, to the Mayo Clinic Health Letter.  Maggie lived simply, but her generosity toward her family was enormous and deeply appreciated.  Maggie requested memorials go to the Disabled Veterans Charitable Service Trust.
Maggie's memorial service will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Johnson-Peterson Funeral Home, 612 S. Smith Avenue St. Paul, with visitation from 5-6:30PM and service 6:30-7:00PM.  Family interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery
