White Bear lake

Obituary

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Margie/Maggy, our loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and teacher to all whose lives she touched.  She left us while peacefully sleeping at her residence of 60 years in White Bear Lake, MN on April 23, 2020. She was 85.
Born in Butte, Montana, she was the second daughter of George and Margaret O'Hair, growing up with her older sister Barbara. In 1942 the family moved back to Minnesota and years later, her younger sister Mary was born. Throughout their lives, all three sisters remained very close. At family gatherings, we would enjoy hearing them tell wonderful stories of growing up in the house on Bush Avenue. Their combined laughter was infectious.
Margie attended St. Catherine's and earned her nursing diploma in 1956.  During that time, she met her future husband Jim, who went to serve with the 5th Infantry Division of the Army.  Over the course of two years, they were dedicated to writing letters to eachother—Jim affectionately calling her Marg. On April 27, 1957, they were married, bought their home in White Bear Lake and started their family.
She was the beloved mother of Mike, Dan (Karen), Jeff (Patti), and Kathy (Tim). Wonderful sister of Barb (Larry) Hubert and Mary (Bob) Wampler.  Maggy was a proud grandmother of Danielle, Kristine, Katie and Quinn. She was also a great grandmother of four.
Margie lived a full life as an amazing caregiver.  She had long career in nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital and Forest Lake Hospital.  Her career included teaching in the Nursing Assistant Program at 916 Vo-Tech and later she was the Infection Control Nurse at Lyngblomsten Healthcare, Housing & Services.
She loved to read, wrote poetry and was highly creative at making anything by hand. An excellent shopper at heart, Margie loved to find a great bargain. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her kids, strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
