1931-2015 Leon (Pep) Krautkramer passed away in the home of his youngest son, Dan, August 8, 2015, surrounded by his family, in White Bear Lake, MN. He was 84 years old. Leon was born on April 16, 1931 in Marathon, WI to his parents, Franklin and Lillian Krautkramer, where he was the third oldest of 13 children. He attended Marathon High School and proudly served in the United States Navy, as an Aviation Machinists Mate Airman USN-1 (UDT Underwater Demolitions Team), during the Korean War. He spent his career managing in the trucking and shipping business in Florida, Illinois and Minnesota. He married Catherine Heffernan in 1958 in Miami Fl. The family moved to Minnesota in 1973 where Leon loved to spend time with friends and family, hunting and fishing. He liked nothing more than sitting in a boat or on a bucket, on a frozen lake, with a fishing pole in his hand. After his retirement from the trucking industry, he enjoyed part-time work at Gerten's Greenhouse and Garden Center in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Leon was a truly special man who went out of his way for family and friends. His calm demeanor always put everyone at ease. He led by example and was a mentor to many. His sense of humor was always at the ready. His presence will be greatly missed by all. He was the best father three boys could ever ask for. Leon is survived by Catherine, his wife of 57 years, sons, Fred (Gail) Alvarez, Carol Stream IL, Thomas (Sandra) Krautkramer, Montrose MN, Daniel Krautkramer (Cindy Simon), White Bear Lake MN; grandchildren, Ann-Marie (Marc) Fiore, Lisa (Tom) Holzapfel, Joseph (Siobhan) Krautkramer, David (Melanie) Krautkramer and Mitchell (Naomi) Krautkramer and great grandchildren, Zackory, twins Billie and Bailie, twins Thomas and Samantha; Mikayla, Aryanna, Jackson, Thomas and Draco.
