Memorials to InnerCity Tennis. Kevin was born 28 January 1948 in Minneapolis to Francis Ryan Mulcahy and Grace Haley Tully Mulcahy. He had 3 brothers: Tully, Ryan, Mark and a Sister, Grace. He graduated from Edina High School in 1966 and attended Winona State University where he became a lifelong member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity (a/k/a Winona Walleye Club) and played on the tennis team. After 41 years and exemplary participation in social 'singles' groups (Bop 'til You Drop, Sitzmark Ski Club, Calhoun Curling & Cricket Club, etc.), Kevin met Mary "Ruth" De La Hunt at Bop 'til You Drop's 'Dirty Dancing' themed party held at the Calhoun Beach Club on 22 July 1988. A 15-month courtship followed. Together they received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at Nativity of Our Lord Church on Friday, 3 November 1989. Kevin and Ruth celebrated their 24th year of marriage with a surprise renewal of vows the night before their anniversary at a card party in their home. He was an exceptionally devoted and loving Husband to Ruth and found it difficult to say No to her. Kevin's special presence on earth was marked by his talent for generously displaying a loving smile and warmth to all. He was gifted with the ability to bring people together from many different walks of life- family, fraternity, coworkers, competitive sports teams. Kevin was an avid tennis player and competitor. He didn't care if he won- only that he played well and everyone had fun. However, he did win often and was a great sportsman. He thoroughly enjoyed competing in the 2008 United States Tennis Association National Competition at Indian Wells. Of all the places he could be, Kevin said he was most comfortable, inside and out, on the tennis court. He also won at many other competitive endeavors: volleyball, golf, bocci, bowling (high game 297), cards. He was just simply a great competitor who always had fun. Kevin worked at many different pursuits over the years from real estate to selling casino & theme parties. He was most proud of his own company, Walleye Mobile Closing Services, where he would meet with homeowners at their homes to execute mortgage closings. Changes in the mortgage industry led him to the MSP International Airport where he enjoyed nearly 6 years of employment; gaining many new friends, learning about other cultures and languages, and meeting celebrities and politicians. He loved keeping-up with family and friends who had occasion to travel and never failed to look him up for a great conversation. He was well respected by coworkers and management. It was not unusual for him to get scored 100 percent when he was 'secret shopped'. Kevin loved life and wasn't really ready to leave all the many wonderful people who loved him and enriched his life. He gracefully accepted God's invitation to come to Happy Hour on Saturday, 5 July 2014. Perhaps he looked back once before turning and walking forward into eternity ... no doubt he would have left you with this farewell, in his own words: Take Care of Yourself - Have Some Fun!
