Karen Kay
Everhart
Oct 9, 1942 — Jul 13, 2025
Karen Kay (née Heller) Everhart passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 9, 1942, to Albert and Josephine Heller and grew up on a farm in Defiance, Iowa. Karen graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School and went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in Omaha, Nebraska, where she met her future husband, Terry Everhart.
Karen and Terry were married on May 2, 1964, and settled in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She dedicated her nursing career to serving others at Divine Redeemer Hospital, Southview Acres, and Allina Urgent Care.
Karen was known for her deep faith, warm heart, and creative spirit. A devoted member of St. Joseph's Parish for 27 years, she actively participated in the Divine Mercy and Divine Will groups. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and candy-making—always sharing her creations with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Kevin Monroe) Everhart; daughter, Mary Harris; granddaughter, Natasha Harris; brother, Jerry (Sandy) Heller; sister-in-law, Joy Winey; many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; dear friends, Shirley/Dick Veith's family; and countless others who were touched by her kindness.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home (640 West 7th St., Saint Paul, MN 55101). A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (1154 Seminole Ave, St Paul, MN 55118), with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.
