Little Canada
June Ann Vandalia Albitz Scollard Bennett, age 95, passed away on December 3, 2020 at Cerenity Marian Senior Care Center in St. Paul, MN. June was born on July 1, 1925 to Bessie E. (Carlson) and Earl W. Albitz in Clarissa, MN and named after favorite uncle Vander G. Carlson. June graduated from Mechanical Arts High School in St. Paul and attended Rasmussen College. June married Duane G. Scollard in 1947. They moved to White Bear Lake, MN where sons Philip and Paul were born. Duane died in 1960 in a car accident. June married Dr. Arthur Bennett in 1966, and gained three additional sons—Steven, Mark, and David. Arthur died in 2001.
June was a devoted wife, loving mother, supportive stepmother, and nurturing grandmother. We were lucky to have her in our lives. June cared deeply about people and donated her time and talents to a variety of causes. She advocated for stepson David's special needs throughout his life. June and Arthur held many leadership positions in the Minnesota Association for Retarded Citizens. June served as President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Minnesota Dental Association and as President of the Minnesota Lung Association. June was an avid Spanish student. For many years, she accompanied Arthur to Mexico and helped him provide dental work to orphans. June always had a special place in her heart for her church, St. John in the Wilderness, where she loved to serve.
Left to cherish June's memory are her sons Philip R. Scollard, Superior, WI and Paul B. Scollard, Minneapolis, MN; stepson Mark W. Bennett (Joanne Johnson), Des Moines, IA; stepdaughter-in-law Dr. Carol A. Mortensen, Woodbury, MN; and granddaughters Joan M. Bennett (Lisa M. Bennett), Minneapolis, MN, and Sara J. Bennett, Champaign, IL. June was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, her brother Duane E. Albitz, her stepsons Steven L. Bennett and David M. Bennett, and her grandson David J. Bennett.
A memorial service is planned for June 26, 2021 at 11AM at St. John in the Wilderness Church, White Bear Lake. Memorials preferred to St. John in the Wilderness Church.
