In Remembrance (by Karen Lanser)
After mom and dad were married, they traveled from Hibbing, MN headed for Kansas City. Their car broke down in St. Paul and they stayed making White Bear Lake their home. Mother lived in her home for 62 years!
Through mother's life, she loved the First Lutheran Church, playing dart ball, sewing, playing the organ, entertaining, dancing, cooking, and most of all, being a good wife and mother. When her two girls were little, she'd make little jumpers and tops dressing them alike. They were very cute all dressed up for the family and special events. When she played the organ, the family would all sing and dance around the living room. What a fun time! Being raised on the Iron Range, polka and waltz music was in the air, and mom and dad could really "shake a leg" in the good ol' days.
In the later years, her most favorite days were Saturday and Sunday where she could watch the Lawrence Welk Show enjoying every second. Her beloved cats, Oreo and Rexi, would sometimes sit with her as she enjoyed the show. The family is honoring her love for Lawrence Welk's wonderful music at her Memorial Service on February 25, 2017.
Mother announced often, so that it was VERY clear, that her greatest wish was to remain in her home until she went home to be with the Lord. Since we loved her so much, our family did everything we could to help make her life enjoyable during her last years. By God's mercy and grace, she was granted that wish.
Mother attended her grandson Marc and daughter-in-law Sonja's wedding in October 2016. Mother looked so beautiful as she smiled and smiled for the newlyweds. It was a blessing for her to see her only grandson get married.
Our family and friends thank daughter Cheryl and grandson Marc for providing daily care for mother over many years. The family also thanks daughter-in-law Sonja for jumping in and supporting Marc by providing help to his dear grandma.
We will miss you. Rest now in peace.
