Henriette "Henny" Laura Weschcke Klingel Johnsen

Johnsen, Henriette Laura Weschcke Klingel, died in her apartment on November 20, 2018 in her 100th year of life.  She was born October 10, 1919 at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota to Ernest Jeffrey and Margaret Ullrich Weschcke. She attended Douglas Grade School and Humboldt High School, graduating in 1937. She graduated from Carleton College in 1941 and married James Edward Klingel that same year.

She was an active member of Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul and the St. Paul College Club. She enjoyed doing volunteer work with many organizations, including the American Red Cross, the St. Paul Community Chest (now Greater Twin Cities United Way) and Children's Hospital of St. Paul (now Children's Minnesota).

Pre-deceased by her parents, infant brother, sisters: Millicent Christiansen and Beatrice Asfeld, husbands: James Klingel and Robert Johnsen, son, Todd Klingel and many dear friends.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving children: Laura Cordek (Robert) of Minnetonka, MN, Cindy Spring (Don) of Meredith, NH, Stephen Klingel (Sally) of Cornelius, NC and Todd's widow, Debb Klingel, of Mendota Heights, MN and stepsons: Bob Johnsen (Michele) of Woodbury, MN and Steven Johannessen (Kate) of Burnsville, MN, 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

No flowers, please, but memorials may be made to Unity Church-Unitarian, 733 Portland Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55104, or The American Red Cross Minnesota Region, 1201 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55454.

A memorial service and celebration of Henny's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Unity Church-Unitarian. The east lot (off of Holly Avenue) is reserved for accessible parking.
