Obituary

Greg Ustruck, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2016 with his family at his side. Born to James and Irene (Heidenreich) Ustruck on January 6th, 1951, survived by wife Kim (Anderson), daughters Jackie (Ed) Kellner, Danielle Ustruck (fiancé Chase Henagin), and grandchildren Aiden and Olivia Kellner, and Logan Henagin. He is also survived by his brothers, Gary and Tom Ustruck, sisters, Sandy (James) Olsen, Judy (Kevin) Simeon, and his nieces and nephews Derek, Samantha, Sarah and Luke Simeon.

Greg was raised in West Saint Paul and spent most of his summers as a young boy canoeing at Camp Widjiwagen in Ely, MN. He eventually became a counselor at the camp as it made its way into his heart over the years, and it was here that he truly grew to love nature and the outdoors. Greg graduated from the University of Minnesota with his bachelor's of science in Forestry which lead him to one of his greatest passions in life – acting as the superintendent of the Christmas Tree Growers Association booth for 39 years at the Minnesota State Fair. Later in life, he enjoyed working for the U of M Women's Gopher Hockey team as the Instant Replay Official.

Greg had a penchant for giving and frequently offered up his time and talents. In his earlier years he was a volunteer Ski Patrol at Afton Alps, a coach for our daughters' softball, soccer and basketball teams. He chaperoned after school events and was the founder of the computer club of Willow Lane Elementary. He was a member of his church's handbell and vocal choirs and was a very active board member of the White Bear Area Y as well as a volunteer for their swim team. He also had a passion for acting along with his daughter Danielle as they appeared in plays together and individually at the Lakeshore Players Theatre in White Bear Lake. His unique sense of humor and incredible zest for life was evident throughout the last 12 years of health challenges, right up until the very end.

More than anything, though, Greg loved and adored his family. Some of his fondest memories were of the family road trips they would take around the country. He passed away in the home he and his wife, Kim, built together over 30 years ago, surrounded by his family. The laughter, wisdom, strength and love he shared with his family will never be forgotten.
