Florence Julia
Markert
Oct 22, 1934 — Jun 4, 2023
Florence Julia Markert peacefully passed away in her home on June 4, 2023. We now have the opportunity to honor the incredible life of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend. Florence touched the lives of everyone around her with her boundless love, wisdom, and compassion. She was an inspiration to us all, displaying grace and kindness even in the face of immense physical challenges.
Florence was a woman of deep faith, finding solace in her unwavering belief in God and Jesus Christ as her Savior. Her prayers were a source of strength for our family during times of difficulty and adversity.
In addition to her unwavering faith, Florence was a woman of many talents. She possessed intelligence, remarkable skills, and athleticism. A devoted mother, loving wife, and skilled homemaker, she excelled in various roles throughout her life. From her expertise as an executive secretary and business executive to her exceptional sewing and crafting abilities, Florence's talents knew no bounds. In her younger years, she dominated the volleyball and tennis courts, and earned her the nickname "Jet" for being the fastest student in her high school.
Florence now joins her beloved husband of 60 years, Allan Robert Markert, and her son, Timothy Lee Markert, in eternal rest. She is also preceded in death by her brother David, sister Myrtle, father Howard, and mother Eleanor, along with numerous dear friends and acquaintances. We can only imagine the joyous reunion that awaits them all.
Florence is survived by her children Allan Reed Markert, Michael John Markert (Deborah), Julie Ann Austin (Steve), Paul Edward Markert (Kathy), and Lynn Marie Markert (Megan), her brother John (Arlene), as well as 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her loving family, who will forever cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on June 13, 2023, from 10-11 am followed by a funeral service and luncheon at Riverview Baptist Church, situated at 14 Moreland Ave East, West St Paul, MN 55118. Florence will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
