Obituary

Curties P. Hale, Jr.  was born on August 7, 1937 in St. Paul, MN to Curt and Vivian (Geisinger) Hale. He passed away on October 25, 2018. Curt graduated from Humboldt High School in 1954. Following graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Art Institute. Curt also served in the United States Army Reserves.  He married Nancy Lee Bacon at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, MN on May 8, 1966. From 1966 to 2014, Curt sold medical equipment for the companies of Universal Hospital Services, Ohio Medical, and Classic Medical. With the title of 'Veterinary Sales & Services Inc.' in recent years, he specialized in ultra sound equipment for Veterinarians.

Curt and Nancy had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States through their association with the various medical equipment companies. They successively traveled over one million miles in their 1996 red Ford Taurus station wagon. (Because he took such meticulous care of the car, it is still running today!) Many nights were spent at the local Holiday Inns which soon became their "home away from home." In fact, Curt and Nancy became one of Holiday Inns top customers world wide! Curt was a salesman at heart and loved to talk to people of all ages and backgrounds. He especially liked to converse with children because, in his words, "You can learn so much from them!"

Curt's hobbies included: Sketching, photography, reading and polishing anything and everything. Some of his favorite items to polish were jewelry, silverware, shoes, and his car. He also became an expert with his  bullwhip which he had nicknamed 'Mariah'! During family gatherings, Curt would bring out 'Mariah' and put on a very entertaining display of his whipping talents. At times, he would ask a family member to hold an object in their out-stretched arm. He said that he had the skill to use the whip to cut off the top of the item. The object was to see which one would chicken out first! And it usually was not Curt!

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Lee Hale; in-laws, David Bacon and Julieth Bernal, Joy Koch, and Judy (Fred) Haugo; nephews, Ben (Paula) Koch, Ryan Haugo and Rheta Rabe, Jeffrey (Courtney) Koch, Brady Haugo and Melissa Huebsch-Haugo; great nephews, Vincent Koch and Weston Koch; great nieces, Morena Koch, Maya Koch, Eleanor Haugo, Ingrid Haugo, and Summer Haugo; and cousins Harry Brady, and Arthur (Jennifer) Brady.

Blessed be the memory of Curt Hale.
