Charles Melvin Wagenknecht

March 1, 1918 - March 9, 2021

Charles Wagenknecht was born to Charles and Augusta Wagenknecht on March 1, 1918 in Mendota Heights, MN (formerly Lilydale Township).

He was baptized, confirmed and graduated 8th grade at Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church and school where he took a Minnesota test to opt out of continuing his education and work on the family farm like his 3 older brothers did.

Charles met Lenore through mutual friends and dated awhile before he proposed to her in July 1939 and were married on October 28, 1939.

They have 4 children Joanne, Barbara, Ronald and Diane.

His favorite activities were fishing, golfing and traveling.

Charles is survived by his children Joanne (Bart) Zehnder, Barbara (Terry) Kallin, Ronald Wagenknecht and Diane Wagenknecht; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.; Also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife Lenore, his parents Charles and Augusta Wagenknecht; brothers Elmer, Herbert, Willard and Calvin, Sisters Mabel, Violet Wagenknecht and Gladys Daggett.

Private family service will be held. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights.

Memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace or Crown of Life Lutheran Church.
