1921-2015 On Saturday morning, April 18, 2015, at her home in White Bear Lake, MN, Carol Adams peacefully rejoined her husband Bob, who passed away in 1988. Carol was born February 20, 1921 in Moline, IL to Arthur and Rheba Johnson. She attended Blackburn College, where she met her future husband on a blind date. Carol and Bob were married in 1943. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in chemistry. In 1949, she and Bob moved to St. Paul, MN. Carol was a strong, intelligent woman with a quick wit she never lost. She was an avid reader with a prodigious vocabulary. Carol loved the family dog, a Basset hound named Mitzi, and enjoyed playing and watching tennis, as well as the comedic antics of Stanley Cupockey. Bird watching was a keen interest, and she enjoyed gardening. Carol traveled much of the world - visiting Africa, Australia, China, South America and Europe. When at home she worked passionately for Planned Parenthood and the League of Women Voters, and always made time to drive for the Red Cross. Carol's vision and compassion led her to found a charitable foundation in her husband's name that continues to support her and Bob's lifelong focus on education, science, and community involvement. Carol is survived by her children and their spouses - Peggy & Joel, Bill & Elfie, Carl & Brin, and John & Kathy; her seven grandchildren - Andy, Tom, Katie, Julie, Stephen, Nicholas, and Ian; two great-grandchildren - Bruce and Christopher; and the Luxembourg branch of the family - her AFS exchange daughter Malisi and son-in-law Jacques. All will remember her intensity, her humor, and her generosity. Services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, May 2 at the Johnson Peterson Funeral Home, 2130 2nd Street, White Bear Lake, MN 55110. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross or the Girl Scouts of America River Valleys Council.
