Byron D. Nelson, 77, West St. Paul, MN, and formerly of Minot, ND, died on Monday, January 6, 2025. He had courageously battled pancreatic cancer for the past 20 months.

Byron was born on February 28, 1947, in Minot, ND, to Morris and Esther (Grothe) Nelson. He was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1965

Byron attended Minot State University before entering the Army in 1969. After discharge from the Army, he attended NDSU where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He then moved to St. Paul where he met and married Heidi Howe in 1984. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his sister Marilyn and brother Bruce (Jeanell), nephews Eric (Christine) and Paul (Jennifer), nieces Harriet, Greta, and Jules and nephew Everett.

Celebration of the life of Byron will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, West St. Paul, MN, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Acacia Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army.
